Today I’m talking about Why Clarity Sells You As a Speaker.
There are plenty of aspects that I cover with the speakers I work with during the course of our time together. However, there is something I talk about right off the bat as soon as we sit down. So what’s that one thing we talk about right away? Clarity.
Clarity is often the difference-maker between a successful speaking business, and one that is busy but not making any money. I recently spoke about the importance of being consistent as a speaker. But without clarity, you can be consistently doing the wrong things.

The bottom line with testimonials is that they are one of the best ways to market yourself as a speaker. We all understand how powerful the recommendations of a friend, colleague, or family member are. When it comes to buying products and services, 92% of consumers say they trust word-of-mouth or recommendations from friends and family above all other forms of advertising.
That’s precisely what testimonials are – a recommendation. Given the influence recommendations hold, I think you’ll agree that building up a plentiful list of testimonials is a pretty powerful tool to have in your marketing belt.
Testimonials also provide social proof that you have the credibility and authority to speak on your chosen subjects. The more testimonials you acquire, the more you begin to look like the expert in your sector you already know you are to planners and event organizers.

I often meet speakers that tell me they struggle to secure gigs. After doing a little more digging with them, the same issue always pops up, time after time. No one knows who they are.
It’s not that they don’t have a good speaking website, or that they don’t have any published articles. It’s about the fact that they haven’t built any trust or credibility within their field. In other words, no one knows who they are or what they represent.
While the obvious solution is to get more speaking engagements. It’s not so cut-and-dry. Many speakers get stuck in a vicious cycle of not being booked and therefore unable to build trust and authority.
However, there is a way forward – being consistent. Consistency is absolutely key if you want to grow your speaking business.

First and foremost, the answer is time. Event planners are busy people. They’ve got a lot of speakers to evaluate. Therefore, it makes total sense to have everything they need collected into one concise page that saves them searching all over your website for the information they’re looking for.
So often, having a clear and compact planner page can make the difference when it comes to securing speaking gigs. Remember, you have to make it as easy as possible for them to book you. The planner page provides everything they need in one simple click. So make sure you get working on including a planner page if you haven’t already!

How to Leverage Your Ebook into Paid Speaking Gigs
If you’ve been a long-time reader of my blog, then you’ll remember that I’ve told you before that writing an ebook is one of the easiest ways to gain yourself free publicity. And while free publicity is ALWAYS a good thing for speakers trying to grow their business, it’s not the same as paid speaking gigs booked into your diary.
